Breakdown of 2012 Legislataive Races – House and Senate
2012 House Filings- This election cycle 52 House members seeking re-election did not draw an opponent, and two other open seats were taken when only one candidate filed.
2012 Senate Filings – In the Senate, six of 24 senators did not draw an opponent. Half the 48 Senate seats were up for election, but two members were term limited and six opted not to run. So in the 2012 election, there will be 17 races, of which seven will be open seats and ten will be incumbents vying to be re-elected to their senate seats. Four of the elections will be decided in late June, as they are primary races only.
