STILLWATER — The aviation program at Oklahoma State University in Stillwater has received initial accreditation through the Aviation Accreditation Board International.
Aviation management and professional pilot degree options each received accreditation, a process that took nearly two years, the university said.
Thirty-two institutions have AABI accredited programs, including the University of Oklahoma, which has four accredited aviation degrees.
This specialized aviation accreditation enhances other accreditations, such as through the Higher Learning Commission.
“We are very pleased these two programs are recognized at the international level for accreditation,” said C. Robert Davis, interim dean for the College of Education.
“The recognition is a reaffirmation of OSU’s commitment to preparing students for the aerospace industry.”
In addition to the aviation management and professional pilot degree, OSU offers a master’s degree in interdisciplinary science: air and space option; a graduate certificate in aerospace security; and a doctorate of education in applied educational studies with aviation and space science specialization.
