TULSA — Gov. Mary Fallin will have a starring role in this year’s state aerospace industry summit, scheduled to take place June 6-8 in Tulsa.

Fallin, who as lieutenant governor was responsible for the first Oklahoma Aerospace Summit & Expo 10 years ago, will speak after lunch and present the Thomas P. Stafford Award and the annual Seeds of Greatness Award.

“Having the governor not only in the audience but on the agenda where she is getting to know the industry is a big deal,” said Mary Smith, director of the Oklahoma Aerospace Alliance. “We’re just thrilled.”

Other speakers include aviation and aerospace industry analyst Hal Chrisman, a principal in AeroStrategy’s North American office, and State Secretary of Commerce and Tourism Dave Lopez.

The three-day event begins June 6 with a golf tournament and bash at McNellie’s Pub in Tulsa. The next day is the main conference, at the Tulsa Convention Center. Panels with top industry officials are planned as well as networking opportunities.

The final day is Aerospace Education and Industry Partnership Day (formerly called Education and Training Day) at Tulsa Technology Center‘s Riverside Campus.

Scholarships are given to 100 educators to attend and learn about job possibilities in aviation and aerospace.

The summit has drawn as many as 1,000 attendees and more than 100 exhibiting companies. Host duties have alternated between Tulsa and Oklahoma City each year.
