We develop new technologies and solve challenging science and engineering problems for government and industry customers in: materials, energy, environmental science, aeropropulsion, structures, mechancial systems, sensors, manufacturing, human factors and other engineering disciplines.

The University of Dayton Research Institute (UDRI), a separate business unit within the University of Dayton (UD) is responsible for more than 90 percent of UD's research volume. UDRI is among the nation's leading not-for profit research and development centers. The National Science Foundation (NSF) ranked UD 2nd for federally funded university materials research. Overall, the NSF ranks UD 14th for federally funded engineering research. Formed in 1956 with the Air Force Reseach Laboratory as a primary customer, UDRI's R&D enterprise has grown to 400 full-time personnel supporting a broad customer base with 1,300 government programs and industrial accounts.

UDRI laboratories number nearly 50, occupying more than 162,000 square feet, and are managed, staffed and equipped for sponsored research. Because equipment upgrades and acquisitions are made continually, UDRI can offer the right resources for almost any project.
