The mission of the aviation program at the University of Oklahoma is to provide aviation undergraduate students with the knowledge and skills of a competent pilot and/or industry professional, combined with a broad liberal education and business concentration that will provide them with an initial and long term competitive advantge as professionals in global organizations and in society.

The University of Oklahoma Aviation Department has been offering Aviation Degree programs since 1947 at Max Westheimer Airport in Norman. The Department is a part of the College of Continuing Education which offers a variety of outreach courses and programs for persons of all ages and is a major academic degree granting college of the University.

The University of Oklahoma Aviation Department offers a Bachelor of Science degree with four concentrations: Professional Pilot, Aviation Management-Flying Track, Aviation Management-Nonflying Track, and Aviation Management-Air Traffic Management Track. All four of the degree concentrations have a strong business focus to prepare students to function efficiently in the business world of aviation or other related career opportunities. For students wishing to complete aviation coursework but major in something else the Aviation Department offers four minor options: Single Engine Commercial pilot, Multiengine Commercial Pilot, Aviation Management and Air Traffic Control.
