In 1997 after a 32 year career at NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory where she managed a wide variety of projects Donna Shirley formed Managing Creativity. At the time of her retirement from JPL she was the manager of the JPL's Mars Exploration Program. Since then Managing Creativity has provided consulting and training services to many national and international companies. Donna is also a widely recognized speaker on management of creative enterprises, especially for the aerospace industry. While Assistant Dean of Engineering at the University of Oklahoma Donna taught her system for managing creativity to students and faculty. She has also managed the development and early operations of Seattle, Washington's Science Fiction Museum. Recently George Van de Mark, an economist and expert in management and industrial development, both domestically and internationally, has joined Managing Creativity and brings a wealth of experience to the company. In addition to long experience with Arthur D. Little, a management consulting company where (among other things) he managed the non-petroleum industrial development for Saudia Arabia, he has been vice president of a steel refractory company and CEO of a software company.
