In 1930, several companies consolidated to become American Airways. In 1946, the Tulsa Maintenance & Engineering Base was established. SABRE was formed with help from IBM in 1960 and in 1987 a state-of-the-art facility was built in Tulsa. In 1982, stockholders voted to approve a plan of reorganization under which a new holdingcompany, AMR Corp., was formed and became the parent company of American Airlines. The name AMR was taken from the airline’s three-letter New York Stock Exchange symbol. In 1984, American Airlines established American Eagle as its regional airline affiliate. Together, American Airlines/American Eagle serve 250 cities in over 40 countrieswith almost 1,000 active aircraft.American’s Passenger division is the largest scheduled passenger airline in the world. American operates over 2,100 flights daily throughout North America, the Caribbean, Latin America, Europe, Asia and the Pacific.The Tulsa M&E Base has launched MRO services and offers their best-in-class maintenance and engineering services to airlines around the globe.
